Shiksa

I am so naive.  Really.

About an hour ago we're talking about architects putting in at least 40 hrs.  Newbies/non associates, normally put in alot of work, don't get a ton of money, but get tons of experience which will pay off later on.  Now some architects are Jewish (shabat shalom) and need to get home before sundown on Fridays.  So I'm talking to ONE GUY about making up his time, which he has conveniently been forgetting to do and somehow lent comes up and he asks if I've given anything up.

"Yes" I answer. "I've given up swearing for lent."  Now I don't normally swear in work, but it does happen.  We resolve the issue and he goes.  5 min later diff architect comes in and says "Hey Shiksa, hows it going?".

What the heck did he call me?  I tell him I'm fine.

Another guy comes in like 30 seconds later and tells me the owner said I need to work this weekend. (like that would happen)

Hmmmmm

Then another puts a sticky in my hair.  I give him the stink eye and ask "What the HECK is going on?"  Those sweet Jewish guys were TRYING to make me swear! I came really close to it too when he STUCK SOMETHING ON MY HAIR!.

It's going to be a long 40 days.

I'm sending love and good karma to my adversary HeffMike who just lost his job.  It's a devastating thing to go through, financially, mentally and emotionally.  I say hang tough.  Things happen for a reason and sometimes it's for the best.  At least no one is calling him a Shiksa.

Update:  They just sent the IT guy over to mess with my pc in an attempt to make me swear.  I told them I didn't give up SLAPPING for lent!  Grrrrrrr

You sure that was the word he used? Wikipedia:

Shiksa usually refers to an attractive gentile woman or girl who might be a temptation to Jewish men or boys, e.g., for dating, intermarriage, etc.

Oh I'm sure!

And another one just came by and pulled my pony tail. Which is uber cute btw. the pony tail, not the pulling of it.

Must inflict pain on someone!!!!

Hmmm attractive, huh? I didn't realize that was part of the definition.

Too bad you didn't go with braids. Those nice, little, Jewish boys could have dipped them in the inkwell.

You sure you work in a real office? It is sounding like middle school.

Inkwell? Not all of us are 102 yrs old Ken. :) I hope you know I kid you because I like you. It's my middle school mentality. :)

Heff lost his job? Damn, not good. Hope you directed him to my last post so he doesn't get jammed up in case things turn out worse than we hope.

BTW, I gave up Lent for Lent. Actually there is one advantage to being a gimp, you can eat meat on Fridays during Lent

That's true Wolfie. You are exempt.

Not casting aspersions, but attractive really has nothing to do with it, nor does being a temptation to a Jewish man. Shiske refers only to a Gentile woman who is the wife of a Jewish Man. The opposite, a Gentile man who married a Jewish woman, is called a Shaig'tz (SHAY-gitz).

Well thank you for THAT Gary. Obviously Ken is smarter so I am going with his definition.

My jewish co-worker said that the term is meant to be sort of derogatory.

And I thought being Italian was bad enough. : o )

Aha! I did detect a derogatory tone!

*chin trembling*
Too mean...

Actually, I'm right, Ken's wrong, and if I have to say you're attractive for you to know I'm telling the truth, so be it: You're attractive, but you're nobody's shikseh.

Oh! Now I understand!

I'm avoiding the Northeast until the lightning bolt has hit. By the way, nice job on that single table taking 3rd place. You deserved better when that idiot went runner runner for the straight on you.
