Horizon Expander - and other poker stuff

There's a new twist on Survive Donkey Island.  The final games have been posted, which are noted below.

Wed 3/16 $10 + $1 NLHE
Sun 3/20 Super Turbo NLHE Tournament(300 chips and THAT'S IT! No Rebuys! No Multi-Entry! Buy-in TBD)
Wed 3/23 $10 + $1 NLHE
Sun 3/27 Badugi(Buy-in TBD)
Wed 3/30 $10 + $1 NLHE
Sun 4/3 10 cent rebuy(30min) NLHE

Yes, you read that right.  One of the tourneys is Badugi.  The one thing I know about badugi is I have no effing idea how to play it.  Don't misunderstand.  It's not that I can't calculate the pot odds, or understand how to play aggressively, what I'm saying is I don't understand the rules.  That's not good.

Anyone who does know how to play Badugi, well drop me a comment or email and you will have a friend for life. Well, you'll have a friend for life that will ensure your email box is peppered with Badugi questions, but is that so bad?  I think not.

Someone witty called the game a horizon expander, and I believe it is. It's like on the show when Jeff Probst announces that it's time to eat a 1,000 yr old egg frappee.  Some challenges are out of left field.  I just wish my survivor life wasn't on this game, but who knows if I'll even still be in it on March 27th.  I surely do hope so.

I can live with the other games.  I'm not a huge fan of the super turbo, but have played a few in my day.  The advantage to that game is we won't be up half the night waiting for peeps to donk off their chips. Mama approves.

BTW I've had 3 hours sleep last night.  A new low.

During the game I was chatting with a friend about that big tourney (1200 peeps) where I was the chip leader but lost my chips too soon.  I just kept thinking that if I had to do it again, I know I'd go deep.  So I did it again.  I played a $24+2 600+ peep double stacked tourney.

Again, poetry in motion.  Made the right moves at the right time.  It kept getting later and later, or earlier and earlier, depending on your perspective, but I stayed firmly in 4th place in my field of 600.  No, it wasn't first place like last time, but I spent hours between 4-6 place.

Tick, tick, tick.....

72 peeps in the money.  I got rivered sooo badly, AGAIN.  Lost half my stack AGAIN.  Panicked again and lost a few more chips....In the end, at 4:00 this morning, I wound up in 88th place.

Boo to the 88th power!

I will win a big tourney.  Not tonight, but I will.  I took it much farther last night but still came up short.  I need to work on my end game.

Here's hoping I stay awake for the rest of the day.

Play smart.

Badugi or I like to call it "Chase The Rainbow" -

Four card lowball-draw poker game usually a limit game, but I've played PL before.

Best hand is A-2-3-4 all different suits.

There are three draws with betting after each one and after the cards are dealt. You can choose up for four cards but I don't suggest doing so unless its folded to your big blind (or if you're in a 2am drunken mixed game at the IP).
