"Fabrizio In Sicily, women are more dangerous than shotguns."  - The Godfather

A favorite quote from one of my favorite movies.  I've probably seen The Godfather about 20 times, starting as young as 7 on my Nonno's knee.  When I was a kid, whenever The Godfather was on everything else stood still.  I mean part of the movie was set in Sicily and there was alot of Sicilian spoken.  It was akin to a home movie. I never looked when they showed the horse's head in Jack Woltz's bed though.

We had the same get togethers with the same food.  And remember the garden where the Godfather tended to his tomatoes?  Just like Nonno's garden.  Although Nonno didn't die among the tomato plants, I truly believe there was no place he'd rather be.  When Nonno hit his early 90's he was housebound, which was a bad thing for him.  He lived with us (or did we live with him?) and I remember him asking my mother to remove some kitchen cabinets so we could install a window overlooking his garden so he could keep an eye on it. A window where a window shouldn't be? He might as well have asked her to burn the house down.  Nevah happen.

His request haunted me though.  I so wished he could have had that view. Blah, I started with that quote for empowerment, and now I'm just sad.  Getting old really sucks.

Play smart tonight or you swim with the fishes; the Team Fishes, that is.

I was under the impression that girls didn't like The Godfather.

Must rethink.
