GOOOOOO PATRIOTS!!!!!!

3pm cannot get here fast enough.  That's when the New England Patriots go up against the Baltimore Ravens for the AFC Championship. <---a bit of info, in case you live under a rock.

This is a huge game. HUGE. (cue the Angelina Jolie picture)  The Patriots strength lies in their offense with Tom Terrific, Welker, Gronk (Tom loves him) and they'll be going up against the Ravens' mighty defense.  So what wins championships?  Offense or defense?  Ugh, the answer to that questions scares me, BUT we have Tom Brady and Belichik and baby the Patriots are going to the Super Bowl!  You heard it here first.

As added bonus the Patriots will have four honorary captains of the game:

Drew Bledsoe!
Teddy Bruschi!
Troy Brown!
Ty Law!

With that kind of a ka-tet (sorry, still reading the gunslinger) we cannot lose.  If you don't know who they are, then your loss.  I don't have time to 'splain but they're all awesome Patriots from the '96 season. (hmm, maybe I did have time to 'splain)  I think I may have to pull out my Drew Bledsoe football shirt for today.  When would there be a better time to wear it right?

I'll be going to my mom's for Sunday dinner and watching the game from there.  My sister is bringing her new BF over for dinner and we'll be meeting him for the first time and mom is cooking up a storm.

Big gravy with meatballs, sausages, spare ribs, all sorts of bones and I don't want to tell you what else.
Spinach and cheese ravioli
Cheese ravioli (what if he no lika the spinache?)
Garlic bread
Salad

Mmmm.  Diet officially starts/resumes tomorrow.  Although my plan is to have salad, 1 meatball and only a few spinach ravioli.  That can't be that bad.

ARGH!!!! I can't wait for the Pats game!!!!  Only thing that would make it better would be if Madonna were singing during half time.  Oh wait, that's in two weeks!  :)

Play smart and Go Pats!

This is the point in time where normally I'd say Go Baltimore - but seeing how I hate Baltimore more than I hate the patriots I'm going to be spiritually cheering along side you on this one.

On the other side of the pond this is definitely a Go Giants kind of day - setting up a Super Bowl rematch for you dear Josie - so that you and your team can extract the revenge that it so deserves after the last time where someone shat in your Wheaties.

Also, last night I read about 150-200 pages before going to sleep. I was completely sucked in and only stopped because I was having issues with the eyes staying open. I'm approx 100 pages until completion (89% done) and might finish tonight if'n I don't get bored with football and go play poker.

So, just to be clear, are you looking forward to the Patriots game today or not?

Grrouchie, omfg, you're ahead of me. I haven't read all weekend and I'm at 75%. :( Guess what I'm doing tonight!

Yes, beating the Giants at the super bowl will be the piece de resistance, but one game at a time. Nice pic!

Cranky, good point!

Rob, lol I'm just a wee bit excite.

All this Patriots talk is making me sick. Thank goodness hockey and basketball are in season.

Josie, as a Jets season ticket holder, I can't wish you luck today. But, I won't wish you bad luck, either. I'll just keep my mouth shut and wait out the next decade until the Jets or Mets actually do something that bring me joy.

In other news, if you get a moment, please check out my blog post on this morning's brutal session. Really getting somewhat discouraged with my play and looking for helpful criticism. Thanks in advance . . . (and enjoy the game this evening). -PPP

VJ, you forgot to mention Hernandez, your bad, viva la raza. The Patriots should win but that is why they play the game. If Nada plays his best game the Ravens will win if not the Patriots will win. Brady is one of the worst QBs when pressured, if Brady is pressured he will throw at least 2-4 interceptions, if
Brady is not pressured he will pick the Ravens apart.
If the Ravens can run the ball with Rice and Williams its over for the Patriots.
Whatever the outcome is both teams are still light years away from being as good as the Steelers.

I'm sorry but be prepared for a disappointment. I really fear the Ravens will win this one though I will be rooting for the Pats. I see the game this way. If Baltimore gets consistent pressure on Brady it will take away NE's biggest weapon which is seam routes to the TEs. Those plays take time to develop and a QB on his ass doesn't get the time. The Pats really don't have a speed deep threat that can break a slant against single coverage into a really big play. Yes Welker and company are good receivers but none of them are better than average at best in the speed department and that is how you beat a pressure defense. So I'm afraid this will go to the Ravens. Yuck. I'll be rooting for my former home team in Foxboro. Maybe they can get some early turnovers and convert them to points. Make Baltimore have to pass and the Pats win. Let them run and the Pats lose. Simple as that. Go Pats even if I will have to hear VJ go off about it afterward

Josie - I think you should at least wait until the season is over to send Lee Evans and Billy Cundiff your "Thank You" letters

Neo Baby, I'm not disappointed AT ALL, but you must be. Someday I'll teach you about football.

Lightning - have you been watching Malkin and the Pens lately?

malkin is playing at a really high level lately

Oooh -- an NHL hijack of this thread?

I don't get to see the Pens play very often. I am usually more up on the Western Conference teams, where my Blackhawks play.

Lots of teams with championship potential this season. The playoffs should be awesome.
