Say that you love me!

To: Riggs, AlCantHang, HeffMike, Hoyazo, TheRealDawnSummers, JuliusGoat, Jordan, XKM, Turtle, Brain, Kat, SmBoatDrinks, Muhctim, NumbBono and of course, JamyHawk.

Have mercy baby, on a poor girl like me.  You know I'm falling, falling, falling at your feet. I'm tingling right from my head to my toes.  So help me, help me, help me make the feeling go.  Cuz when the voting starts and the lights go down and there's not another living soul around, you woo me until the sun comes up and SAY THAT YOU LOVE ME.

Have pity baby, just when I thought it was over. Now you've got me running, running running for cover. I'm begging you for a little sympathy and IF YOU USE ME AGAIN IT'LL BE THE END OF ME. Cuz when the voting starts and the lights go down, there's not another living soul around. You woo me until the sun comes up and SAY THAT YOU LOVE ME.

Don't wanna talk about it.  Don't wanna think about it anymore.

Saaaaaaaaaaaaaay that you love me.  Um via a vote.

Final Two Baby!

SmBoatDrinks and Very Josie heads up

Perhaps the title is a spoiler.  Hmmmmm There were 30something peeps that came to play the all important Dank game tonight.  There were alot of familiar faces.  I'm not a "glass is half empty" kind of gal but I couldn't help looking at the field and thinking they were all out to stop me from my goal and effect the Survive Donkey Island game.  Of course my worst fear was realized when Poker Grump was seated to my left at my first table.  Fawk!  I mean really?  Same spot 2 games in a row?  My fears were for nothing though as he was actually a nonfactor in my night.  ;)

I doubled up early when I called a min raise with Q-J and flopped broadway.  Nice!  I bet and got a call.  Turn was a non card, once again bet and call.  River was a 2.  Just to be tricky I check and he makes a good sized bet.  I have the nuts so I jam all in.  Considering the fact that everyone knows what I have on the line, I think jamming so early in the game was a bad idea.  Who'd call that?  Yet this guy, (and i have no idea who he was) called me with A-2, 2 pair.  :)

Soon enough Grump was gone and replaced by Skiddoo.  He was thrilled to see me.  :)  He should've been as I doubled him up.  :(  I had A-Q so I called him preflop raise.  Flop was A-10-x rainbow.  He bets kinda big and I call.  Same for the turn.  Now I have the sinking feeling I don't have the best hand yet I stick with him to the river to see he had pocket 10s and flopped trips.  Boooo

My nice big lead is gone but I buckled down and played premium hands only.  I obv kept my eye on Muhctim and Boat's stack and was happy to see Muhctim was the shortie.  But man he was the shortie for evah!  The guy wouldn't play a hand.  Finally he jammed with 9-9 got called by 2 overs that hit the flop and he was out. I dunno who did it, but he got an $11 bounty courtesy of smBoatDrinks.

It was down to me and Boat!  Just how I'd hoped it would be.  I was sure Boat would take me with him to the final two, and yet.....Hoy's post was stuck in my mind.  What if Boat thought he was better off up against Muhctim?  I trusted him, yet I really wanted to win last longest and secure my spot.

And I did!!!

I lasted longer than Boat, and ended up out 10th.  Blah.  Once I knew I was in the fnal two I tried to double up and it was gg Very Josie.

So I got to pick who I would go up against in Final Two.  Hmmmm There was really no question in my mind. SmBoatDrinks was the only one who didn't backstab me.  I had suspicions midway through the game but we'll get to that when this is all over.  I did/do think that maybe I'd have a better chance up against Muhctim but that's okay; I'll take my chances.

Final Two!!!!  Either ME or Boat will be Season 1 winner of Survivor Poker!  Sunday night's game is another big one.  Here's how I think it works.  Whichever of us lasts longer gets 40% of the prize pool.  The other 60% as well as the title of Survivor, goes to whoever gets the most votes from their teammates.  16 peeps vote for a winner.....preferrably a female winner.  :)

Oh you'll notice that SmBoatDrinks has now been added to the blog roll to the right. ------>

I was waiting to do that just in case he threw me under the bus, but he hasn't.  Boat and I have been steady as a rock for this entire series.  I know I'm naive but I do think that if Boat won immunity tonight, it would still be the two of us heads up.

I cannot believe I made it this far.  I avoided so many landmines, so many people out to get me.  Did I get nicked a few times?  Sure, but I will survive!

Oh there's one more thing.  All of the 16 contestants that will be voting for the winner get to ask Boat and me a question, which apparently will help them decide how to vote.  Questions can be submitted to Buddy who will be reading them on BDR.  Stay tuned for when.  Ugh.

GG Boaty thus far.  Now the gloves are coming off.  You've been basking in the Very Josie sunshine for this whole series but the forecast is showing clouds in Vermont for Sunday.  :)

Let's talk about chicks, man

No Poker content

Sugar Bear is 12.  Now alot of kids in his grade "date".  What that means, I truly don't know.  All I know is that any 12 yr olds of mine do not date.  I told Sugar Bear to see me when he was 16.  Do I think he won't date till 16 yrs old?  Probably not, but he's a fierce negotiator so I like to start with plenty of wiggle room.

Although girls seem to text him constantly he doesn't seem ready for girls yet anyway.  The girls on the other hand, are waaaaay ready.  Of the gazillion girls that text him there's this one girl....Lexi.  She's super cool because she plays Black Ops, which apparently if you're out to land a 12 yr old boy, that's more attractive than just about anything.  At least Evan thinks so.

Anyway, this girl is constantly calling him, texting him, whatevering him, yet she is "dating" his friend Bobby. Booo for Evan.  :(  Mind you, she's dating Bobby, but constantly wants to play xbox360 with Evan and not with Bobby.  Hmmmm

The other day I get home after work, and I'm trudging up my porch stairs without looking where I'm going and trip on this huge rock that's smack in the middle of my stairs.  Wtf!

I pick up the huge rock to toss it away and on it written in magic marker is "Lexi was here" and the date.  Hmmmm......I haven't met this girl yet, but maybe it's time.

I toss the rock, go in the  house and tell Evan that Lexi tried to kill me.  :)  When I explained what she did, a HUGE smile crosses his face and he says "She left me a stone age text!"  LOL Well that she did, but regardless I tell him I want to meet her and he should invite her over to play video games.

"No way!!!!!!!"  he yells

"She obviously wants to come over, since she was here with her stone age text and I want to meet her."

"Nooooooo!!"

"I'll be nice.  All your friends love me, right?"

"Mom, that's because you feed them and hit them!"

"I do not hit them.....except Shane." (shane is huge and can take it, plus he loves it)

"You shoot them with nerf guns - that's like hitting them!"

Whatevah!  Even though I promised not to hit her, he hasn't invited her over yet.  Not in person, but this chick gets in through phone calls, texts, facebook, even the frigging xbox.  Not that I can blame her.  Sugar Bear's a hottie.  I have no recent pics here at work, so the one below, which is 2 years old will have to suffice.

Hottie 2 years ago

Yes, he's holding a presidential achievement award which was signed by Barak Obama!  But before you get too excited, that was 2 years ago.  He just got his report card, which had 4 Cs on it! omfg It also had 4 A's and 2 B's, but still.  C's are not bad if that's what you are capable of, but for every C he got there was a comment saying that he's capable of more.  He got C's because he'd do his homework but forget to get it checked off, or miss a day of school, not make up the work and get zeros.  So even though his tests grades are As, he gets Cs.  Grrrrr

He asked me if he was being punished because of this report card and I said no.  Shock and relief registered on his face.  He can still use his xbox to kill people! I know he works hard and does alot of homework and I told him this, but it's that extra little bit at the end that's missing.

Booze Cruise EDITED

How the booze cruise went for me

Do you want the bad news or the worse news?  Let's start with the bad, shall we?  I was Gigli for The Booze Cruise last night.  Nice 2 table field, but I had the unfortunate luck of having Poker Grump at my table. (No, grumpy you aren't getting a link because I'm too mad at you)

This was 10 mixed games, mostly limit and although I did cash in this last week, my goal was to last till 9:30, 20 minutes.  I did not meet my goal.  For some reason Poker Grump gets under my skin and I just don't play well against him.  I either fold the best hand or call with the worst.  Rinse, repeat.  Argh!!  I feel this way about NO OTHER PLAYER.  WTF!  Believe me, he ain't that good.  lol It's me, not him.  I think it's because he pwned me at the WPBT in Vegas.  I still have images in my head of him grinning when he trampled me with a big 10-7 off suit preflop.  This dude owes me dinner, or a kidney.

So I was out first, which sucks, and is the bad news.  The worst news is that Bubble Boy, not only cashed, he won the whole thing!  Waffles took first, Jordan was second ( I was so sure he'd win) some dude I don't know came in third.  I think his name was APOESEC or something like that.  People!  When picking your screen name, for the love of God, pick something that is legible and pronouncable.  How can I swear at you if I can't pronounce your name?  Like Muhctim, for example.  I just realized that is pronounced "Mucked'm" I always called him "Muhcuttim.  Dumb this down for me people!

Oh and SmBoatDrinks was the bubble.  That's okay as he's saving his winning ways for tonight.

TONIGHT

Tonight's the most important game of the tourney if you ask me.  It will determine who makes it to the final two.  Whoever gets immunity goes to the final 2 and can choose who goes with her.

I had 2 great nights sleep in a row. 9 hrs on Monday night and 7 hours last night.  :)  I'm ready to fight to the end.

The Dank TONIGHT
10pm sharp
Password is vegas1

Good luck to my two worthy opponents and better luck to me.

See you tonight.  Especially you Ken.  I want YOU to play tonight.  RJ Squirrel can play on sites other than corrupt ones right?  Take a freaking nap OLD MAN and play! :)

Edited to add:  I am having a GREAT hair day.  I dunno why but I look like I just stepped out of a salon.  The world is my oyster baby! With my hair looking this good, how can I lose tonight?  :)  Duh! Winning!

What day is it?

It's 3am and I'm wide awake.  Why, you ask?  Because this Survive Donkey Island stuff is kicking my butt.  I was dragging all Monday after getting not quite 5 hrs sleep Sunday night.  And just to make life interesting, I had to be in work at 7:30am on Monday.  Good times.  Plus I was in meetings for half the day, which is draining.

So because I was tired, and because Dancing With The Stars was on, I decided to watch it in bed.  Mmmmm except I think I only saw one dance and it was good night!  I must've fallen asleep at 8:15!  When I woke up I didn't know what day it was or what I was late for. :)  I hate that!

But let's get back to work for a minute.  Between meetings one of the guys stops by.  He, like me, is big into Survivor (the tv show).  Not that many people in the office watch it like we do and we'd always discuss who backstabbed who, who we liked, etc.  Anyway, he stops by, pops his head in and says....

"Hey, I've been meaning to ask you, are you into still into Survivor?  I watched all 6 episodes this weekend to catch up.  I can't believe Russell is out already."
"Yeah, I'm still into Survivor." I say with a smirk.

Now let me just mention that everyone in the office knows I play poker, but no one knows about this blog.  They know about my poker playing to a certain extent because I've had a weekly game at my house for the past decade.  Every Thursday morning I can't tell you how many people ask me how poker went last night.  It's the weirdest thing.  No one else is into poker, yet everyone knows I play on Wed night and always want to know what happened.

I tell him that I'm playing this "Survivor poker game".  "It's based on the TV show!"  I tell him.  "We started out with 16 plyaers divided into 2 teams, whichever team went the deepest in the poker game got immunity and didn't have to vote someone out."

He thought it was the greatest idea ever!

"You actually vote people out too?"  He asked.

"Hell yeah!" I answered "In fact we're down to 3 players and I'm still in it."

He thought that was the greatest too. He says something like "They must all love you because you're so nice".

(I've covered his particular ass on more than one occasion and in real life I do not throw people under the bus)

"No, not really Christopher, in fact, I think they all hate me."

"That's nuts, no one could hate you."

Heh. "Well they don't know the real me."

"That's a shame.  Have you ever met these guys?"

I started to say that no I haven't but then I think about it.  I have met a few other players.  I tell him I've met 2 peeps from the other team (NumbBono and Kat) but they're out of it now.

As I think about it I kinda remember being told that I've met XKM too, but unfortunately I have no memory of this.  I just remember thinking NumbBono was XKM.  Don't drink in Vegas kids!  Well actually, DO.  heh.

Speaking of Survivor....I got this email from Buddy today:

Last nights Badugi game was interesting. 4 contestants left and Muhctim ran the deepest to win immunity.

Votes
VeryJosie - 2
Xkm1245 - 2

With another tie we have another heads up match. VeryJosie runs good and
wins.
Xkm1245 is the next contestant voted off Donkey Island.

The remaining contestants!
Muhctim
VeryJosie
Smboatdrinks

This week during The Dank we will have the final 3. Voting works a bit
different during this game. Only the person out of the remaining 3 who
runs the deepest gets to vote. That person will decide who they are
taking to the final 2 and who is going home.

Good luck.
Buddy

Wednesday night is going to be AWESOME.  Of course Tuesday night is going to be pretty good too.  I'm playing The Booze Cruise, hosted by none other than SmBoatDrinks <-------Click on that link for all the info.  Password = boatdrinks.  Its 10 mixed games, which is fun.  As soon as the game changes I yell and complain about how the game sucks....and then I get into it, enjoy it, only to have it change again.  Good stuff.  Wolfie as you did so well in that Badugi clusterfuck, I DEMAND that you play this mixed game thingy tonight.

SMALLBOATDRINKS
Speaking of my boy Boat, I was just realizing that there were only two heads up tiebreakers in Donkey Island, which were won by Boat and me. Strong like bulls, I say and we're still in it.  Woot!  We have truly worked hard to be here.

It's now 3:40am.  Do I go back to bed and try for 2 more hours of sleep or jump in the shower and get this day started early?  Decisions, decisions..... I'm so frigging cold btw.  Warm up in my bed or in a hot shower? Screw it, I'm going back to bed.

Play smart.

Fun little quiz

This was emailed to me from one of my friends.  A real life friend.  Someone who would never lie to me because she values my friendship, but I digress....

Quiz for Bright People

There are only nine questions. This is a quiz for people who know everything! These are not trick questions.
They are straight questions with straight answers..

Josie's Note:  I love these emails because these little quizzes make me feel superior - but not this morning.  Granted I didn't have time for much pondering, but regardless, I only got 5 of 9 answers.  Um, last time I looked, that's failing.  Funny thing, MENSA just sent me a letter asking me to renew my membership!  Maybe they wouldn't had they seen my test results here.

1. Name the one sport in which neither the spectators nor the participants know the score or the leader until the contest ends.

2. What famous North American landmark is constantly moving backward?
3. Of all vegetables, only two can live to produce on their own for several growing seasons. All other vegetables must be replanted every year. What are the only two perennial vegetables?
4. What fruit has its seeds on the outside?

5. In many liquor stores, you can buy pear brandy, with a real pear inside the bottle. The pear is whole and ripe, and the bottle is genuine; it hasn't been cut in any way. How did the pear get inside the bottle?
6. Only five words in standard English begin with the letters 'dw' and they are all common words. Name two of them.

7. There are 14 punctuation marks in English grammar. Can you name at least half of them?
8. Name the only vegetable or fruit that is never sold frozen, canned, processed, cooked, or in any other form except fresh.
9. Name 6 or more things that you can wear on your feet beginning with the letter 'S.

Answers To Quiz:

1. The one sport in which neither the spectators nor the participants know the score or the leader until the contest ends: Boxing.
2. North American landmark constantly moving backward: Niagara Falls . The rim is worn down about two and a half feet each year because of the millions of gallons of water that rush over it every minute.
3. Only two vegetables that can live to produce on their own for several growing seasons: Asparagus and rhubarb.
4. The fruit with its seeds on the outside: Strawberry.
5. How did the pear get inside the brandy bottle? It grew inside the bottle. The bottles are placed over pear buds when they are small, and are wired in place on the tree. The bottle is left in place for the entire growing season. When the pears are ripe, they are snipped off at the stems.
6. Five English words beginning with dw: Dwarf, dwell, Dwayne, Dwight and dwindle...
7. Fourteen punctuation marks in English grammar: Period, comma, colon, semicolon, dash, hyphen, apostrophe, question mark, exclamation point, quotation mark, brackets, parenthesis, braces, and ellipses.
8. The only vegetable or fruit never sold frozen, canned, processed, cooked, or in any other form but fresh: Lettuce.
9. Six or more things you can wear on your feet beginning with 'S': Shoes, socks, sandals, sneakers, slippers, skis, skates, snowshoes, stockings, stilts.

Wow - Final 3

Is she overpowering Aquaman or dancing with him?

It waas a craaaaazzzy night on Survive Donkey Island.  As you know, we were playing Badugi tonight.  there were maybe 22 peeps and I was thrilled when i saw CK at my table!  Woot!  Yeah, she ran us over but it was a thrill to play with her.  If I can glean a bit off watching her do her thang, than it's well worth it.

Of course the stakes were high for me.  4 of us left, playing to stay in Donkey Island.  I resigned myself to the fact that I would not win this game, which is never a good thing.  I just don't know badugi, and now having played it twice, like it even less than originally.  I hate drawing cards that may make my hand worse.  ugh - tough decisions to make.  I stood pat on a 10 badugi twice only to lose.  And lose I did.  I was out before the 2nd break.

Boat who was doing so well and had a big stack, soon enough was out next.  It was down to xkm and some shithead for survivor immunity and guess what?  Yes, the shithead won.  And because the shithead happens to also be a liar, one without a conscience to be sure, the vote wound up a tie.  2 votes for me and 2 votes for xkm.

We must duel to our deaths!

Buddy asked if we wanted to have the HU match now and I readily agreed, as did Aquaman.  Unfortunately Aquaman was soon in a heads up match with Sthermanstinks instead of me.  Doh!  Once that was over we started our game.

I hit a couple of early hands/pots.  Got lucky a couple of times, and had a couple of good hands too.  Before I knew it I had 2,000 to aquaman's 1,000.  Now I play alot of HU matches and I know that this kind of lead didn't mean much.  One or two hands could very easily swing the pendulum the other way.

I'm the big blind with 10-3 sooted, aquaman limps and I check.  Flop comes 10-3-7.  Bing!  I check, he bets, I raise, he reraises, and I call.  Busy flop!  After the turn Aquaman jams all in.  I hope to God he doesn't have trips and I call with my 2 pair.  He shows A-A!

After sweating the river, I won the game!  Woot! Very Josie is still alive and kicking.  Definitely kicking!  We are down to 3 peeps from the 16 original players!

The final Three are:

Very Josie
SmBoatDrinks
Fucking Liar

We'll be playing The Dank Wednesday night for a 1 in 3 shot at immunity, which guarantees a spot in the final 2.  It's a big game indeed.  Thank God it's not Badugi!!!!!

Shout out to xkm/aquaman - You played a great game and the cards just fell my way heads up.  GG man!

Final shout out to Miami Don!  Don, I'm thinking of you and I'll be in touch.  If I was abruipt, it was because a fucktard was stabbing me in the back again, at the exact time we were talking.  Believe me, this stupid game and that stupid shithead are nothing compared to what we talked about.

Yes Waffles.  You were right.

Play smart.

Guess who just showed up?

Gary sporting the latest fashion

Gary is here and showed me what I was doing wrong with my headphones.  Apparently there was a box I was supposed to click.  :)  I'm good to go on BDR now. Thank you Gary!  I will try to keep the swearing to a minimum.

Is Badugi! a swear?

Live Action in Revere

Marvin's money

I had a fun time last night in Revere.  I'd missed the last couple of events so it was good to see everyone.  As you can probably tell from the picture above, I lasted longer than Marvin. :)  I was a little bit late so when I arrived he started with "I thought you weren't gonna show cuz you were too afraid!"  all up in my grill.  Ha!  There were a few boys I hadn't seen in like a year that showed up too, which was awesome.  Unfortunately they were all out early, to early to wait around for the cash game dammit!

Marvin and I were at different tables, which is exactly what  I didn't want.  This group is made up of pretty good players and horrible ones.  I thought that if he was left alone he was going to chip up on the noobs, as usual.  So he was upstairs and I was downstairs.

At my table was this sweet old woman who didn't have a clue about how to play.  I mean nothing.  She was just here to get out of the house.  She didn't know what a straight was, what a full house was, and I'm not kidding.  And she ran over the table!  She hit a full house on the flop and kept calling to an aggro guy's betting.  In the end she didn't even know she had that, she just knew she had 3 aces.  lol  She busted him!  Then she busted another guy.  It was awesome.   The other players at my table were pretty decent, but the guy on my left whistled through the whole game.  Yep, I said whistled.  The first 15 minutes weren't so bad, but an hour into it and I was ready to pull my hair out.  Keep in mind it's a pretty full table and he's right by my left ear.  At one point someone is all in and I'm thinking about calling but the whistling is distracting me so I shoot him a look and he finally stops.....till the hand is over.....and then resumes.

Anyway, 16 peeps with 3 itm.  We combined to a final table at 8 peeps, which I couldn't wait for because Lynne said chilled premium tequila was served at the final table.  It was smooooooooooth but very strong.  Oh prior to the final table, I'm downstairs playing away and the door bursts open.  It's Marvin.  He actually has to duck to get into the room and he's coming in with one fist thrust forward, which is clutching MA MONEY!  Woot!  He then told me some sob story about why he's out, but I don't remember it.  I asked him if he wanted to do double or nothing for his league hoodie, but he declined.  Wuss.

I played about 4 hours and was middle to short stack for the whole time.  Never could get a big hand but won a bunch of small ones.  Blah, not where I want to be, but I had to play cautious because of Marvin.  It wasn't the money, but the bragging rights.

Anyway, 4 hours later the blinds are huge and there are 6 of us left.  I'm the BB with J-J and 1st position raises 3x bb.  All fold to me, it's either jam or fold.  I jam and I'm up against A-K.  Ace on the flop and I'm outa there.  Boo!

Here's the guy who felted me:

I beat his right upper arm black and blue, yet he smiles.
Taken about 1 minute after he knocked me out.

The hostess with the mostest.
This was taken on Superbowl Sunday.

Freddie, Mike and Shawn
Freddie is Marvin's nephew.  You wouldn't know there's like a 25 year diff, right?

Tonight, Donkey Island continues.  The game is Badugi and the place is Full Tilt Poker at 9:30pm.  I am sure to be knocked out by 9:40pm.  I don't like this!  But come by and listen to me complain.  I'm already registered so if you wanna play, and really why wouldn't you, just look for veryjosiePassword is survive.

Oh and  I suggest that everyone tune into Buddy Dank Radio tonight.  Mama's gonna spouting something!  Gary's stopping by to figure out what I'm doing wrong so I'll be good to go tonight.

Only 4 peeps left in Survive Donkey Island.......this is gonna be good.

Trash talking

Josie and Marvin

I'm playing a tourney in Revere tonight with the ladies and black men.  I skipped the first one, so when the email blast about the tourney went on Friday more than a few people on the list emailed me to see if I'd be attending  game #2.  The email goes to about 24 peeps, and they all love me.  :)  Seriously, I make the game fun with my trash talking and what not.  Anyway, I decide to reply to everyone and get the trash talking started.

Josie: "That's right people! Josie's playing so watch out!"

And then Marvin, my nemesis and winner of season 1 of the league sends the following email:

Marvin: "There really should only be 1 person talking. (See the name below)" Marvin

Now obviously he's saying that because he won season 1.btw Season 1 winner got a custom made hoodie with your name on it! (dammit i wanted that)  And he did win, but I have been OWNING him lately, so much so, last time we played I left with an IOU from Mr. Marvin.  And truly the only reason I didn't do better in the season is because I missed so many games.  I ended up in 4th.  So I retort with:

Josie:  "Puhlease! Wear your little embroidered sweater and know I OWNED you all last year. you just showed up for more tournaments than I did."

LOL Have I mentioned that he's like 6 feet 22 inches tall?  Bah!  He doesn't intimidate me, I intimidate him!  However, he responds with:

Marvin: "Whatever excuses makes you sleep better at night."

The bastard! It's time to take the gloves off! LOL

Josie: "omg! You will be my biatch saturday night. mark my words. and then I'll sleep GREAT. :)"

Heh.

There's a scratch ticket bounty at these games, which I hate. I don't like scratch tickets and I usually end up with 5 pieces of scratched cardboard worth zilch, when I'd much rather play for $5 cash bounty and have a few bucks.

Marvin:  "Please, I am going to scratch your ticket for 500.00 and add it to my winnings."

Weak retort.  Very weak.

Josie: "I hope you hit a lucky scratch ticket because that's the only way you're going to win any money Saturday night."

After a few more inspired emails we decided to resolve our disagreement like gentlemen...erm....you know what I mean. :)  We have a last longer bet.  Double or nothing on what Marvin owes me from last time.  I would LOVE to double it and I soooo have his number now.  I just hope he's at my table.  This is going to be a 2 or 3 table game.

Oh and guess what?  I have a picture of the dude!

I'll play smart.

Brevity is the soul of wit

I am playing Badugi on poker stars tonight at 9pm.  All the details are here and the password is southpaw.  I don't plan on winning, but getting some practice in for Sunday night's Survive Donkey Island badugi game.

Work is being trying at the moment, so I don't have time for much more.

Oh I left work early yesterday because Uncle Rocky, Auntie Louise, Uncle Phil and Auntie Theresa were visiting my mom.  As mom's the youngest (at 69 yrs old) I always like to see them when I can.  You thought my conversations with my mother were funny?  That was nothing!

If I have time this weekend I'll recap a bit of it.  All of them were born and bred in Sicily and believe it or not,  my mother speaks the best English.  At best the others speak 50% English and 50% sicilian dialect from the 1950's - not quite standard Italian.  Sweet, sweet caring people.  They LOVE their niece Guiseppina and were thrilled I showed up.  All eyes were on Josie - Love it! lol

Saturday night I'm playing with the black men and the ladies in Revere.   Should be interesting and profitable.  I LOVE live action.

Okay my peeps.  Have a good weekend and if you wanna read about crazy italian uncles and aunts, stop by this weekend.

Play smart.

Turtle Soup

Turtle The Warrior

Turtle was voted off Donkey Island.  He played valiantly too and lasted a looooong time.  In the end fellow fish, XKM took him out.  Turtle, at least you went down playing goot.

I sucked tonight.  If you don't believe me, check out HeffMike's post.  Apparently everyone at the table knows how to play poker better than me, according to Heff.  Good thing he likes me, huh?   I lasted a couple hours but was out far too early. Sad part is I donked off almost all my chips to HeffMike.  He jammed on a flush draw and I had 2 pair and thought/knew I was good.  Which I was, until the river hit and I doubled up HeffMike.  Then I was down to like 480 chips and jammed with J-8.  Goat hit trips on the flop and I was history.

So with nothing to do, *sniffle* I watched the play.  Waflles was still in it for a change, as was XKM, turtle, Hoy and my boy Neo.  After watching for a while I was *sure* xkm had the game in the bag, but it didn't turn out that way.  XKM took out turtle and then they were down to 4, with 3 itm.  xkm, hoy, neo and waffles.  Who do you think was the unlucky bubble?  Yes it was Waffles, a/k/a Bubbly Boy.  Boy did he suck.  lol Just kidding.  He actually played well but was in a coin toss at the end that he lost.  10-10 vs AJ.

Neo was the chip leader for quite a while and Hoy bit by bit aquired more and more chips until all of a sudden he was the chip leader.  wtf!  First of all, Hoy rivered me twice early in the game.  Once hitting a straight on the river and crippling my 2 pair and once rivering a flush.  Fricking biatch.  It was just one of those nights.

It's funny, I got lucky on ONE significant hand, and unlucky with about 6 significant hands, yet no one comments on the latter.  Shocking, huh?  lemme tell you bout the lucky hand cuz it's awesome!  I had J-J and villian raised in early position so I reraised.  Flop was like under 10 high, and soon enough we were both all in and I was up against Q-Q.  I hit my jack on the turn to double up.  Whew!  I kept those chips for quite a while but eventually lost them to Heffmike and his rivered flush.  I have to stop doing that.  I could've got away from that hand.  So what if i was ahead when I called - there was still another card to come.  Risked too many chippys.

Neophyte played an amazing game.  Seemed to make the right mover over and over and was the chip leader for the majority of the game. He ended up in second, second to Hoyazo, but played very well.  GG to both!

While they were still playing Buddy started announcing the votes on BDR.  He said he'd read them in the order they came in.

First vote...........VERY JOSIE (I'm not panicking yet)
Second vote.........TURTLE (whew)
Third vote.............TURTLE (thank god)
4th vote...............VERY JOSIE* (omfg)

We are tied and one of us will be out with that last vote.  I know I'm good, but my heart is pounding and i'm holding my breath.  All of a sudden, my confidence is gone, till i hear the words "Turtle is voted out".

Thank you to the 2 guys who stuck with me.  2 guys didn't stick with me and I still don't know why that happened.  Things could've/should've been quite different had they stuck it out.

I'm sure everyone has a different opinion, different point of view of the goings on of Donkey Island.  When the whole shebang is over I'll give you insight into how I played and why I did what I did.  What I did well and what I regret.  Regrets.....I do have a few, but like I said the time for all that is when the game is over, and baby, there's plenty of game left.  Badugi Sunday night!  Duh!  Winning! lol

Oooo speaking of winning....of being a lucksack....Joe C. Luckbox to be specific, I won the jam fest with the Buddy Dank crew after The Dank!  They play this CRAZY game where you enter a tourny for 5 ftp.  You must jam all in every single hand....everyone else has to do this too, and whoever lasts the longest gets $5 from everyone else.  I won!  There was a disconnect at my table so that helped, but I lasted for about 3 or 4 jams which was enough to have many people sending me $5 each.  Mama likey!

Play smart.

Don't get your panties in a twist

Boy, some people!

Waffles loses last night and rants about how I'd lose to a vegatative retarded person.  You'd think by now he'd be used to losing but nope!  And get this he blames it on God hating him.  Good thing he's turned over a new leaf about taking responsibility, huh?

And then Bayne posts that I'll be thrown under the bus tonight in Survive Donkey Island.  And I thought Bayne was somewhat intelligent.  I guess I'm not always right. :)

So if you want to watch the great backstabbing of Very Josie, I suggest you do NOT play The Dank tonight.  You will be disappointed.  I trust my boy(s).....the ones that are trustworthy, that is.

Play smart.

This, That & The Other

I played SmBoatDrinks' Booze Cruise last night and I must say the games were alot of fun.  Let's see if I can list them!

Limit Holdem
Omaha H/L
Stud
Razz
Triple Draw
Single Draw
Badugi

Not bad, huh?  I have no idea how to play half those games, but somehow I came in 3rd which was itm.  Yay me!  That's pretty good considering I've been on the go since 6:30am and it's now just a hair shy of midnight.  I guess I can sleep in the next life.

I got into work at 8:30, worked through lunch and left at 3:30 so I could go to the focus group at the Dedham Hilton.  For those of you who don't live in Massachusetts Dedham is right next to East Bum Fuck.  Frigging so far away from Boston.  My sistah picked me up at the office and we were off for our road trip!

This particular focus group was terrible.  I usually don't mind them and the time flies.  This one was for over 2 hrs and they'd play 8 seconds of a song, and I had to rate it from 0-100 with 100 being the best.  Since they were only 8 seconds long we probably rated about 1,000 songs and I'm not exaggerating (for a change).  First few batches were fun and then it was like poking myself in the eye.  I just couldn't take it anymore.  I wanted to run screaming.

There were about 60 of us in a Hilton Ball room all facing the guy running the group.  My sister and I were in the front row so the guy kept walking past us, and his pants were torn in the back from thigh to thigh.  Huge tear right at the bottom of his ass, about 8 inches long. So big in fact, it looked like he was wearing an open diaper.  It was so gross - but I couldn't stop looking.  Ewwwww.....

It was a lonnng night.  And it ran about 10 minutes longer than it should've so i was in a big rush to get my check and leave.  They called my name to pick up my check and said "Jose Cadkfjalkjteino".  I figured there were no Mexican men in the group so I went to claim my check.  The guy says "Hose-A?".  I'm like ya that's me.  He says "Really?"  I say "Ya now Adios!"

God, I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

I got home 5 minutes before The Booze Cruise.  Whew..... Usually when I play The Booze Cruise a big night is 4 peeps.  :)  I think tonight was a new world's record!  When I went out 3rd Neo Baby was left along with a guy called BerserkELF.

BTW BerserkELF knocked out Boat so I shipped him his bounty.  He had no idea about the bounty so I explained it to him.  Then he says to me: "Thank you.  You sir, are a gentleman!"

WTF?

I thought for sure Boat put him up to it but Boaty denied doing so.  It must be my perfume or something!  Right now I'm wearing Calvin Klein Euphoria and I think it's nice.

Tomorrow at 10pm ET is The Dank and the continuation of Survive Donkey Island.  With only 5 peeps left this could get ugly.  I've been getting emails telling me all sorts of things that aren't true.  The boys are scrambling now!  The stories are getting taller and taller.  Immunity has never been more valuable.  If you want to play along, sign up for The Dank.  I'm already registered so just find veryjosie.  Password is still vegas1.

As some of you may know, I work at an architecture firm. Currently we (not me) are designing 3 new libraries:  The Westwood Library, The Hoyloke Library and The Krista McAuliffe Memorial Libary in Framingham, MA.  I often have to email clients because of contracts, pricing negotations, etc.  The head librarian's emails always end with the book he is currently reading.  I think that's so cool!

Example:

Sincerely,

Joe Schmoe
Head Librarian

currently reading, Of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck

I think the idea is way cool and I always Google whatever book he's pimping.  Since imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, I thought I'd start doing the same!  I'll end every post with what I'm currently reading and right now I'm reading a good one.

Play smart.

Poker God

I can't remember when a man has made me this happy.  What a minute, did I say MAN?  I meant Poker God!  I'm talking about SmBoatDrinks himself!

Boat played a heads up match against BrainMc for his life and he won.  It was an epic match too that lasted about an hour.  An hour of shocking twists.  I swear they took 10 years off my life.  Both were short stacked and came back more than once.  Both got lucky and both got in good.

I think SmBoatDrinks illustrated the difference between a goot player and a great one when he was shortstacked.  He had J-7 and the flop was J-4-5 or something like that, with brain holding the 3-6 for an oesd. Betting and a calling, then there's a 7 on the river, which gives brain a straight and boat top 2 pair.  If i were him in that situation, being shortstacked and all, I think I would've jammed to Brain's bet.  Instead boat calls, loses, and is down to 300 chips, but STILL IN THE GAME.  Amazing.  Then fought back to even, and up and down enough times to give me heartburn, and finally the win.

Guess what Boat and I are doing tomorrow night?

No, we aren't having drinks on a boat, but you're close!  We're playing The Booze Cruise on Full Tilt Poker!

Tuesday Night at 9:10pm
Password is boatdrinks
$5+.50

Come play with me, if only to aggravate me.  It's a mixed game and that means I'll be easy pickings.  It starts limit holdem, then omaha, stud, blah, blah and then BADUGI!!!  Last week I didn't last long enough to play badugi.  Here's hoping I make it this week.  I really want to give badugi a try.

Let's make the game interesting!  Take out The Poker God (Boat) and I'll ship you $6 (your buyin).

$6 bounty on SmBoatDrinks!  He's too good so you'll never get it!

BTW I may be a little late for The Booze Cruise, but I'm signing up so please no stealing my blinds till I get home.  I'm doing a focus group with my sista that ends at 8:00pm, but it's kinda far away.  I think I should be home just in time.

The focus group is on oldies music.  (no comments please) You had to be between 42 - 49 years old to qualify. :) I believe I have to listen to music and tell them which songs I like.  I can do that!

BrianMc, I tip my cap to you.  You played a great game of Survivor and a great game of poker.  I thought you were going to pull off my worst nightmare...taking my boy Boaty out.  GG on that front and the way you played Heads Up against Boat.  I know I wouldn't want to play HU against you.  :)  Well, I kinda do, now.  :) I'm just glad I didn't have to play  you for my survivor life.

16 contestants started on the island and there are only 5 left.

Very Josie (she rocks)
SmBoatDrinks (poker god)
XKM (confuses the heck out of me)
Muchtim (the final member of the former Team Donkey)
Turtle (yeah, Turtle)

There you have it.  We'll be playing The Dank for our lives on Wednesday night at 10pm ET.  I'm taking that game down, so I suggest you stay out of my way.

Play smart.

Josie

Evans post, totally not something that my mother wrote

Below is a special treat. A post written by my son. Please enjoy and leave a comment, a NICE comment.

Hello world! I am Very Josies son. Mom told me To write a "post". So now I am writing a "post". Today, we went to a birthday paty in Dracut Mass. My mom wanted to where a VERY tight shirt. I said that I thought it was fine to were to the party and she agreed. When we were getting into the car my mom insisted to go and change her shirt. We patiently waited in the car for her to get back.Instead of changing shirts, my mom put on her "I LIKE TO PLAY POKER!" sweater. And that is the end of my story.

Okay, so that above was written by Evan. What I actually put on was my Party Poker hoodie sweatshirt. And the shirt wasn't THAT tight, but I usually end up outside with the kids and thought a sweatshirt was a good idea. Instead I had to listen to "Do you have to advertise that you love poker?". Fricking kids.

I've got nothing

There's a HU match Monday night.  Boat VS Brain.9pm.  Boat is in this HU situation because a former Team Fish member sucks Donkey ass.  Quite literally, methinks.  So I gave him a piece of my mind.  God knows he could use it.  So dumb.  His stupid move cost him more than this game, that's for sure.

I exited Survive Donkey Island Event #11 early tonight, but c'e la vie.  I got in with the best hand and with a turbo and 1500 starting chips, that all you can ask.  I had J-9 hearts and the flop was 3-3-10 with 2 hearts.  Two Black Aces bet out and I called.  Turn was an A of hearts!  Boom.  I jammed all in.  He thinks for a bit and calls with A-rag....I think a 6.  Anyway a 3 lands on the river and he gets a boat.  gg Josie.  I hate a riverboat, but there was really no getting away from that.  I wanted the call.  I put him on the ace and wasn't really thinking boat.

Boat......

I KNOW Boat will win this HU match btw.  The dude is a solid player.  Like a rock.  And I'll be there to cheer him on, in a too tight tshirt and shaking my pom poms.

Goooo Boat!

Boat will PLAY SMART.

Poker, BlackJack, Poker, Poker and Crazy People

Got a minute?  Maybe a half hour?  I have a feeling this post is going to be a bit lengthy.  I played in a live tourney Saturday with Gary as I mentioned earlier.  There were 72 peeps 7 itm and first place was over 2K.  I really wanted to cash and I did not.  The sad part was I surely could've....surely should've.

We started with 15K in chips and I have 8 peeps at my table.  I recognize an older woman, very tight nit, who I've played with before and the guy with no front teeth who I split with once.  They def recognize me too.  You tend to remember those at final tables.  Not that she cashes alot.  I remember her nitting to the final table with like 10 in chips.  5 minutes into it NoFrontTeeth (Frank) says "Josie, remember we split a while ago?  Down to us two before you finally agreed?  You weren't so nice."  I say "Frank, why split 4 ways when you can split 2.  You should be thanking me.  Wanna split today?"

Here's hoping!

I play to the first break tight.  Very tight, but I hit a big pot when I have trip kings but check because of the 3 crubs on the board.  The guy makes a bet which I know is to buy the pot.  I have reads on him and a few others at this point.  I call and wait to see his cards.  He had ace high.  Trips win!

So when I sit down, I glance at the person to my immediate right.  I thought it was a man, who was wearing a pink breast cancer hat, and sunglasses.  Once I sit down, I see (s)he is wearing purple nail polish, so I'm like ooooohhhh (s)he's a girl.  Glad I figured this out before I said something stupid!  But when she bets, I see she has like bigger hands than anyone at the table, and when she talks she sounds like James EArl Jones.  And the best way to describe her (because I've been thinking about it) is to visualize Bayne, yes BAYNE, in a pink breast cancer hat, girls sunglasses, purple nail polish, some pink lipstick and his regular clothes.  That is exactly what she looked like.  And Bayne, I love you, but you'd never be mistaken as a woman.

Anyway (S)he is a horrible player btw so I'm waiting for my opportunity to pounce.  I know Frank (no teeth) and Shelley (tight nit) have it goot when their betting so I'm playing iwth the shitty players and it's working GREAT.

Whenever I win a pot against a shitty player Shelley high fives me!  Girl Power!  With the (s)he there are 3 women at my table and we're the only women in the tourney.

Bayne Lady raises in early position and I have A-Q so I call.  It's us heads up.  Flop is 2-3-4 Bayne Lady jams all in.  Obv I fold, and I do it face up.  She too flips hers up and has A-Q.  Blah.  I smack her on the shoulder for her shitty bluff and it's like hitting a brick wall.  lol

There's a chubby guy across the table and I am withdrawing chips from him like he's an atm.  3 hands in a row.  First hand I knew he missed the flop yet he bet.  I smooth call.  Turn he bets and I raise him.  He folds.  Next hand I have Q-Q and he raises.  I smooth call and see a 7 high rainbow board.  Unless he's raising with the Hammer my QQ is goot.  He bets out AGAIN.  This time I reraise big and he folds.  I show the Q-Q.  Next hand and we're on break.  I get up to leave and just ake a quick peak at my cards.  I decide to sit back down and play and win that final hand (total bluff) again this same guy.  I go into the first break with 21K, 7k over the starting chips.  This is exactly where i want to be.

When I play a tourney I like to have goals to achieve by every break.  It helps me to slow down a bit and have patience.  I don't need to be the chip leader I just need to steadily increase my stack.

An hour after that first break I was at about 29K....just shy of double my starting chips.  Perfect.  Owning the table.  Getting in goot when I had the best and folding with 2nd best.  Then I got 10-10.  Old guy raises and I call.  Flop is J-9-8.  He bets 5K.....what does he have? A-K? maybe A-J?  I get stupid and jam all in.  He thinks and thinks and thinks.....then he thinks some more.  I surely have tbe best hand I decide.  If he had better he'd instacall.  All the donks here do with very little.

Hmmm finally.......he says I just can't through this away and turns up A-A.  Ugh.  Come on 10 or 7 or Q.  Nope!  I double him up.  Half my stack gone.  then I lose another hand - which I have no memory of, but trust me, it sucked. :)  Now I'm short and I have K-Q sooted.  The guy I doubled up raises and I smooth call.  If i hit that flop I'm jamming.  Flop is K-10-x rainbow.  I jam all in and he calls with 10-10.  Ironic.

gg me....or not.

I go to Gary's table and when he sees me, his face lights up with the biggest shiteating grin I've ever seen.  Friends rock, huh?  I get it though.  He's never lasted longer than me there, and I always go deep.  And into the break he was kinda short and I was not.  I threw it away.  No donkeys to blame, no one spewing to talk about.  It was me.

So I wait for a seat in the cash game, which I do not enjoy.  While I'm waiting I decide to play a little black jack.  Max bet is $4 so there isn't enough of a betting range (2 bucks or 4 thats it) to play the game properly.  But whatevah.  Gary's still in the tourney and I have time to kill.  Just for the heck of it I practice my card counting and bet the big $4 when the count is goot.  Oh and the guy playing next to me is blind.  Ever see a blind guy play blackjack?  lol He sucked.  He stood on every 14-15-16.  He really didn't know how to play but the dealer would call out the blind guys cards and the dealers up card.  And then we'd wait....slow game.  Um I dunno if you noticed, but I do not have a patience chromosome, so I decided to help him....while he was "thinking" on what to do with a soft 17 against a 5 I said.  "Double down!".  Just put another chip up.  He said okay, did it and won.  Then repeat and repeat again.  "You have a 14 and I have a 10." "Umm......." "Take a card John!!!!  Do it!"  Winner winner chicken dinner!  Then when the count was really good I guided the blind guy to win even more.  It was all going great.  I turned my $20 into $32, the blind guy had like doubled his stack since I sat down....it was all great until.....

Blind guy went crazy.

He was playing all orange $4 chips.  And you can play either the blue $2 chips or the orange $4 ones. So now that he was winning (big change btw) he'd win one $4 orange chip, feel for it and add it to his stack.  Then, the dealer paid him off with (2) $2 blue chips instead of one orange.  He picked up ONE blue chip, held it up to his eye and said "It's a different color".  Dealer explained that he paid him 2 of those, but the blind guy freaked out.  STarted yelling that he was being gypped.  He asked me to call the pit boss (boy really) over, which I did.  Ugh.  Game stopped. (personally I'm thinking how can I exit stage left) And the pit boy hears that the dealer is gypping the blind guy.  So the pit guy turns to me and says, did he really gyp him?

Of course I explain what actually happened, but in doing so I upset the blind guy, who kept saying "Come on Jo! Come on Jo!" like I was lying.  omfg Exit!  Onto limit holdem.  I won $10 in blackjack.

I settle down to the limit game, which I HATE.  Everyone limps in and we'll just see who hits.  Ugh.  Of course I hit the first hand with a full house and get paid off by 2 peeps.  :)  I was actually up quite a bit in this game but lost with A-K twice within the span of 5 minutes and both times I hit A-K on the board to lose with top 2 pair.  Even so, I leave the cash game up $37.  Meh.  I leave Seabrook down a little over $50.

I am so aggravated even though I've been on a diet all week, I decide have chinese food with Gary afterwards.  I was starving though.  All I'd eaten all day was a banana and a tiny bit of muffin.  As we are walking into the restaurant I meet yet another crazy person.  Mind you, I am STARVING and all I want is my late dinner.  As I'm going in the door, there is a congregation of people (maybe 5) on the steps.  As I walk past, one CRAZY woman points at me and starts yelling LOUDLY "You!!!!!! You!!!!!  You're Italian arent you?!?!?"

Me meekly..."Um yes, I'm Italian."

Crazy Lady 'I KNEW IT!!! I KNEW IT!!! I'm Italian too!!!"

Me: "Mazel Tov!" (no I didn't really say that)  I was like "Wow, great, that's awesome you're italian."  Then she wants to high five....and keeps telling me how 'Italian" I look.  wtf does that mean anyway?  All I want is fucking food and she's standing between me and the entrance.  An all her friends or whoever they were, were looking at me like I was a sample in a petri dish.  Sheesh - No one's ever seen an italian woman before? When she starts calling me pretty, I give her her high five. (doesn't take much with me)  The best part though, is what she DIDN'T say.  She looked over to Gary, perhaps expecting me to be with Rocky Balboa, and opened her mouth - and nothing came out.  Speechless!  I was waiting for her to say  "Heeee's not Italian."  Instead she looked as though she was smelling rancid meat.  LOLLLLLLLLLL

I finally got to eat and head home. So I get home and in my mind, I'm reviewing all my bad moves and thinking bout how I didn't go deep even though I know I can.  I decide to hit the Fify-Fifty.  I want to go deep.

819 peeps in the Fifty-Fifty, with a $50 buyin.  It's not a tourney I usually play either but what the heck.  I played AWESOME, until I played badly.  :)  You're going to have to trust me on the awesome part.  I don't really remember the hands but I wouldn't have gone so deep had I not played awesome.

I do, however remember the hand I shouldn't have played.  K-10 clubs.  I min raise in early position (mistake #1) and get reraised by the button.  I have oodles of chips so I call. (mistake #2)  Flop is Q-J-X two clubs.  I bet out and he jams all in.  Here comes mistake #3!  I call!  Open ended and frush draw.  I catch nuthing and I double him up.

I threw away maybe 18k in chips and I decide not to do that again.  I will not.  I play short stacked for hours and hours - only betting when I have it.  I was short when there were 220 peep left, but I hung on, played hard, wanting to be itm, which were 153 itm.  I hit that and then I kept going.

Very Josie 63rd out of 819.
* Oh and if you want to see my entire desktop background, click on ART by BASTIN where you will find the most beautiful photos, poetry and prose.

I needed the final table for some serious cash, but 63rd place got me $130, so I won the money back that I lost in N.H.  Meh.

Today I'm going to a birthday party.  My friend's son is turning 14 yrs old.  Then I'll be home in time to hopefully SURVIVE Donkey Island.

You should come by and play with me.  Look up veryjosie on fulltilt to find the game.  It should be very interesting.

Play smart.

Wish me luck!!!

Gary and I are heading up to Seabrook Poker Room for the 1:30pm featured event.  $100 buy-ing with 15,000 in starting chips and 30 minute blinds.  This is definitely a marathon and not a sprint.

Here's what's going through my head right now:

1.  I have my mp3 player which helps me have patience.
2.  I'm aware of a few holes in my game and I'm going to focus on plugging them up in today's tourney.
3.  I can outplay these guys.  I have an incredible history of cashing in this particular place and it's always the same guys.
4.  I have my reputation.  No not that kind of reputation!  It's just that I seem to be quite memorable there because they all remember me and try either try one of 2 things.....fold to my aggression or do stupid stuff cuz they wanna tangle with me.  Either is beneficial cuz I ain't doing anything stupid.
5.  Usual agreement with Gary.  We split 50% of our NET winnings up to the buy in of $100.  That way if someone cashes good the other gets his buy in back.  A little insurance is never a bad thing.

Okay I can do this.  I'm expecting about 60 peeps.  I'll give you al the gory details latah.

****************************

I want to give a shout out to a VERY SPECIAL POKER BLOGGER.  Why is he special?  Well he's sweet, but there's more to it than that.  He has the ability to be sexy and manly while being unafraid to be in touch with his feelings.  And I think he's feeling that I'm neglecting him.  I'm sorry baby!  I'd never do that....intentionally anyway.  You always have a place in my 36C bra. xoxo

I will play smart today.

Time flies when you're having fun

I've been reading blogs for a long time.  The first I ever read was Carmen SinCity, The Poker Girl in Vegas.  I found it by googling "poker" and "girls".  I wanted to read about poker from a woman's perspective.  From Carmen's blog I found Miami Don, Hurricane Mikey and Linda Lou (not a poker blog, but a treasure nonetheless) as wel as many others, but those were my favorites.  A couple years later Carmen, whose blog I still love, was less and less about poker so I moved onto Waffles, Mookie, WillWonka, etc.

I was totally hooked.

I even tried to start my own blog.  If you look at my history on the right you'll see my lame attempts.  One entry in 2007, one in 2008 and one in 2009, each time I'd promised myself I'd stick with it.  Heh - keep that in mind when I promise you something. :) Then Hurricane Mikey asked me if I'd like to be a guest blogger on his post. *grin* Does a cat have an ass?  Of course I wanted to.  I wrote about a win in a live tournament and because he had TONS of readers, I got lots of comments, which were complimentary!  Some guy asked me to write again!  Hmmmm

So I started again.

I wrote a few other pokery posts and then.......I got a comment from some college kid I didn't know! And then another from some guy called DB Cooper.  I was liking this.  I sent an email to Waffles asking him to play in my private tourney, which he declined (bastard) but he did give me a little link love.  From that I started getting comments from the now MIA Riggs, Wolfie, Lightning, Bayne, Dr. C, Shrike, and a few guys saying they were vice presidents who worked in NY. :)

And I see that I've completed a full year.  A year filled with tons of posts and tons of comments.  But so much more than the posts, so much more than the comments is the fact that I found friends.

Do I have real life friends?  Sure, but whether you guys know it or not I feel just as close to you.  Perhaps that's because I interact with you more than real life friends or maybe it's because you tell it like it is.  Surely there's no sugar coating from any of you, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I'm so thankful for each and every one of you, moreso than words can express.  Thank you for being there even when I'm bitchy or sad or whatevah.  Like you, I don't hold much back.

Happy anniversary to me and to you too.

xoxoxo

Jedi Mind Tricks

Julius Goat and BabyBoy Heff  have both alluded to my "Jedi Mind Tricks."  Since they have outed me I've decided to share my tricks with you.  Click on the short video that illustrates it all.

It's incredibly accurate....especially the ending.

I'm going to vamp you!

Josie

Oh my aching head

This is how I feel

One of my bestest buddies did that to my picture.  He combined the one eyed photo with a different photo for the "repaired face".  It's creepy, makes my features distorted and gives me a kind of frankenstein look.  That is exactly how I feel.  The funny thing is he emailed it to me this morning saying "this never fails to crack me up".  Perfect timing!

It's not the lack of sleep that has me dragging, its the HORRIBLE hangover.  Maybe God will have mercy and decapitate me to put me out of my misery.  Or mebbe not.

Okay lets talk poker, shall we?  I had Skiddoo at my table.  Heh.  I dunno if you remember when I OWNED him in Vegas while very very drunk, playing Razz, a game I'd never played before.  History pretty much repeated itself last night.

I had A-Q and flop was 10-A-X.  Skiddooski was holding 10-10.  An A on the turn gave me trips and him a boat.  Bet and call.  River was a beautiful Q.  BOOM.  Don't get me wrong, he still schooled me last night.  Prior to that my A-Q lost to him when I flopped Q-x-x.  I jammed all in with tptk and he instacalled with KK.  Ugh.  I jammed my whole stack into a 600 chip pot. Dumb.

Skiddoo was to my immediate left and he played amazingly all night.  Always had the best hand when he was in a pot (or so it seemed to me) and always folding when I was hoping for a call.  He went deep and I was out 8th.  I wanna play like Skiddoo!

Oh and when I went out 8th, it was a repeat.  Jamming with TPTK.  At least I'm still in the Survivor Donkey Island game, unlike my friend HeffBaby.  Whether he believes it or not, I'm sad that he is out, but I guess it had to be.  I mean what do you do?  Leave the best poker player in the game cuz you like him?  I dunno if you've noticed, but I'm playing to WIN Season 1 of Survive Donkey Island but I must say it is mentally and physically draining to say the least.

I wish this damn office would stop spinning.

Play smart like Skiddoo.

Josie

Annie Duke is getting married

So I'm eating lunch, reading the link Waffles sent about how Annie Duke is engaged and I decide to give my mother a call.  Please to enjoy!

Me: "Hi Ma!"
Mom: "Jo!!!  You calling me from work?"
Me: "Yeah, I'm just eating lunch and reading an article my friend Waffles sent me.  It says Annie Duke is getting married."
Mom: "Reeeeaaaaalllllly??? You sure?"
Me: "That's what it says.  It says the guy put her ring in the bottom of her stocking on Christmas morning."
Mom: "But the man asked her on TV she said she NEVER get married again."
Me: "Yeah, it says she was surprised.  She wasn't expecting it but she said yes."
Mom: "How old is she?  She about your age, right?"
Me: "She's 45 and I'm 44.  I'm younger!!!"
Mom: "Madonna mia, you're old.  I thought you were 43."
Me: "Nope, but I'm younger than Annie Duke!"
Mom:  "Who is Waffle again?"
Me: "A poker guy.  He plays poker.
Mom: "At your house?"
Me: "No on the computer."  (There is no need to mention Full Tilt cuz that just confuses her)
Mom: "And he knows Annie Duke?"
Me: "NO! It was an article on the computer!"
Mom: "His name is Waffle?"
Me: "Waffles with an S.  It's a nickname."
Mom: "Nicknames, Ugh! You're supposed to call someone their name.  No nickname! So Annie Duke is getting married.  Nice! You sure???"

I left out her critique of my lunch, which was a weight watchers frozn dinner, as well as talk about her tax return.  The bottom line is Ma does NOT believe anyone should be eating frozen dinners and every tax question I answered got a "You sure?" response.

Horizon Expander - and other poker stuff

There's a new twist on Survive Donkey Island.  The final games have been posted, which are noted below.

Wed 3/16 $10 + $1 NLHE
Sun 3/20 Super Turbo NLHE Tournament(300 chips and THAT'S IT! No Rebuys! No Multi-Entry! Buy-in TBD)
Wed 3/23 $10 + $1 NLHE
Sun 3/27 Badugi(Buy-in TBD)
Wed 3/30 $10 + $1 NLHE
Sun 4/3 10 cent rebuy(30min) NLHE

Yes, you read that right.  One of the tourneys is Badugi.  The one thing I know about badugi is I have no effing idea how to play it.  Don't misunderstand.  It's not that I can't calculate the pot odds, or understand how to play aggressively, what I'm saying is I don't understand the rules.  That's not good.

Anyone who does know how to play Badugi, well drop me a comment or email and you will have a friend for life. Well, you'll have a friend for life that will ensure your email box is peppered with Badugi questions, but is that so bad?  I think not.

Someone witty called the game a horizon expander, and I believe it is. It's like on the show when Jeff Probst announces that it's time to eat a 1,000 yr old egg frappee.  Some challenges are out of left field.  I just wish my survivor life wasn't on this game, but who knows if I'll even still be in it on March 27th.  I surely do hope so.

I can live with the other games.  I'm not a huge fan of the super turbo, but have played a few in my day.  The advantage to that game is we won't be up half the night waiting for peeps to donk off their chips. Mama approves.

BTW I've had 3 hours sleep last night.  A new low.

During the game I was chatting with a friend about that big tourney (1200 peeps) where I was the chip leader but lost my chips too soon.  I just kept thinking that if I had to do it again, I know I'd go deep.  So I did it again.  I played a $24+2 600+ peep double stacked tourney.

Again, poetry in motion.  Made the right moves at the right time.  It kept getting later and later, or earlier and earlier, depending on your perspective, but I stayed firmly in 4th place in my field of 600.  No, it wasn't first place like last time, but I spent hours between 4-6 place.

Tick, tick, tick.....

72 peeps in the money.  I got rivered sooo badly, AGAIN.  Lost half my stack AGAIN.  Panicked again and lost a few more chips....In the end, at 4:00 this morning, I wound up in 88th place.

Boo to the 88th power!

I will win a big tourney.  Not tonight, but I will.  I took it much farther last night but still came up short.  I need to work on my end game.

Here's hoping I stay awake for the rest of the day.

Play smart.
